Mystery/coming of age story. Young woman comes to NY to be a reporter after college in Florida. Gets involved with the murder of an Hasidic woman from the same Brooklyn community her mother was from. Her mother abandoned her daughter and husband, and so part of the story involves her search for her mother.

I read this because of an Amazon rec, and enjoyed it.  Lots of twists and turns and subplots wo being contrived.
